Oh hey!
It’s been a minute, and that has been by design. The past few months have been filled with shadow work, reorienting my relationship with social media, balancing work with rest, figuring out how the hell I’m going to survive this hellscape, and pouring into my art that lives outside of this platform. I’m really honored that in my absence, I’ve managed to get a lot of new subscribers. I typically don’t fixate on subscriber numbers because who knows how many of you are actually reading this thing, but seeing so many new names and faces take an interest in my work during this little sabbatical has reminded me that it doesn’t matter if you’re churning work out like a machine or if you’re moving at a snail’s pace, people will discover your work, and resonate with it when they’re meant to.
Since there are a lot of new subscribers and my OGs haven’t heard from me in a minute, I would love to get a temperature check on if there is specific content you’d like to see in this newsletter or that you miss. Fill out this 3 question survey below and/or drop me a comment with your feedback.
Check out my Vlog: The Process
I have wanted to start a vlog for some time, but I had some limiting beliefs about my capacity to create one and its value of it. This vlog is a peek into all of the messy and uncomfortable parts of my creative process.
In episode 001. I talk about the inspiration for why I started the vlog and how I work through moments where I feel stuck because I’ve hit financial and/or creative blocks in my process.
In episode .002, I talk about some things I learned from Spike Lee’s Masterclass, The Creative Act by Rick Rubin, and Elements of Humor by Scott Dikkers as well as the struggles I’ve had writing my first feature, rethinking the value of comedy, and detaching from the outcomes.
To my new subscribers, welcome to my journey! To my OGs, thank you for staying solid. I hope something I share can help you on your path and that you are taking care of your hearts and spirits.
Thank you for being here!
💋 ✌🏾
With love,
